The Best 5 Free Vital VST Skins for 2025 (Best of the Rest)

The Vital synth community has grown into something truly special, and one of the coolest aspects of it is the numerous amazing Vital VST skins that are freely available. While we’ve released our own free and premium themes (like The Deep and our 5-skin Premium Pack), today we’re shining a light on other creators who’ve contributed brilliant designs to the scene.

Here are five of the best free Vital skins you can download right now in 2025. Each one brings something unique to the table, whether it’s quirky charm, minimal clarity, or just plain style.

Blinding Light by QB!K

QB!K's fantastic Vital Skin

Still one of my favourite free skins of all time, Blinding Light isn’t afraid of bright colours and it is the raddest one out there QB!K put a lot of attention into detail, especially the knobs, which are stylish and flat.

  • Bright, energetic aesthetic
  • Flat styling, yet somehow still totally rad
  • Doesn’t use the newest theme features, but still works great. It’s a classic.

Orange by OuterLives

OuterLives amazing minimalist Skin for Vital VST

Minimal, sharp, and inspired by the UI of Arturia Pigments, Orange is a clean and focused skin that looks great and has a lovely flat look to it.

  • Simple, high-readability layout
  • Orange + charcoal colour scheme
  • Available with many other skins, in a OneDrive Folder

Pigments Dark by temporalRift

The Pigments Dark Vital Theme

A brilliant recreation of the Pigments interface, Pigments Dark is a great choice if you’re already familiar with Arturia’s plugin and want familiarity. Though the layout isn’t as crazy as pigments.

  • Clean, familiar colouring for pigments users
  • Subtle colour tones
  • Maintains practicality, but still manages to look gorgeous

Retro Sunset also by temporalRift

A great Synthwave / Vapourwave skin by temporalRift

This is pure synthwave nostalgia. Retro Sunset combines a warm colour gradient with that familiar 80s-style grid and aesthetic. It’s one of the most visually creative skins I’ve seen.

  • Strong vaporwave/synthwave aesthetic
  • Stylish colourful look
  • Great for Synthwave Livestreams

Atom One Dark by Unfold

Atom One Dark Skin for Vital VST

This one is really nice, I’m not a Microsoft fan, but when Microsoft get something right, they really get it right, this one is based on dark mode of visual studio code. I like the styling of vial studio code, I like visual studio code, what’s not to like about this vital skin.

Minimal flat skin that is incredibly practical. Stylish colouring and simple layout, great for late night vital sessions, or any time of day really.

Will match your visual studio code desktop, I have no idea why you’d need it to, but I love it none the less.

You can download this one from his github page, rather fitting, all considered

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these themes really free?

Yes! They’re free at the time of writing, though some authors accept donations (and they definitely deserve it).

Do these skins work in any version of Vital?

Most of them were designed by external creators, so we can’t guarantee compatibility forever. Some need 1.5.5.

Are Vital skins easy to install?

Yes. We’ve written a full installation guide here. Themes can be loaded via the burger menu or the Advanced tab in Vital.

Will these skins work in my DAW?

Absolutely. If you can run Vital, you can use these skins. They’re visual-only and won’t affect performance.

Did you make all these Vital skins?

No,we’re just fans. We’ve linked to the original creators where possible. These are listed in good faith, and we take no credit (or responsibility) for external files. The two vital themes I linked to of my own, The Deep and 5 vital skins were created by me, and I am responsible for these two.
